Buses from Billund Airport

Billund Airport is served by a large number of public buses. The bus stop is located in front of the airport.At this moment there is no train connection between the airport and the cities nearby.

Bus to Billund/Legoland

Lying only 2 km from the famous Legoland complex and 3km away from the city center, Billund Airport is in the heart of events throughout the entire year. It is also very well communicated with all the nearby attractions, as there are several bus lines, shuttling few times per hour each, between the airport, Legoland and the city center. As Legoland is on the route to BillundCentret (center), you can enter basically any of the buses going to the city.

Billund airport bus towards Aarhus

These are e.g. 912X, 944X, 43, 143, 144 166 or 179. The coach reaches the city within 9 minutes approx., stopping at Legoland after 5-6 minutes. A single ticket costs DKK 22 (around €3). If you are heading for Legoland, please debus at the stop “Legoland/Lalandia” (the main entrance to the fun park) or at “BillundÅstvej v hotellet’’ (the Legoland’s hotel).

Buses to other cities

Many of the abovementioned buses are intercity carriers, going also to Vejle, Esbjerg, Horsens or Aarhus. Therefore if you want to take a ride around the country, the bus would be a perfect choice! Vejle is the largest city nearby. You can reach it within 30 or 45 minutes, depending on the line (43 or 143). The ticket costs DKK60 (around €8) for a single person. Taking a taxi

If you prefer a more comfortable type of transfer, consider taking a taxi. Outside the terminal you will find taxi stands with a great number of companies available 24/7. The price for the transfer to the city is around DKK150 (€20).

Renting a car

If you want to reach the town or explore the neighborhood on your own, we recommend renting a car directly at the airport. You will find all the renown international companies, such as Avis, Budget, Europcar, Hertz or Sixt at your disposal.

Useful information

Legoland constitutes the largest tourist attraction beside Copenhagen. Therefore no wonder that year by year huge amounts of people come to Billund, which is the closest airport (only 2km from the amazing attraction). What is important, Billund also serves as one of the country’s busiestair cargo centers and a hub for SUN-AIR company. Taking into account all the passenger traffic (Billundoffers also many charter flights), the airport is the second largest nowadays in Denmark, handling 2.7 million people in 2018. Having in mind all this, it is also very well prepared for guest reception. Once landing in Billund or waiting for your flight you can have a small refreshment in Café Square. There are also several restaurants, pastries and cafeterias at your disposal. There is also the Global Exchange Denmark at any of the three branches – in case you want to exchange money.


My plane lands at night. Would it be a problem to get to the city?

You can find the buses shuttling between 3:00am and 00:00am, so if your flight hours with the bus hours, you can reach the city taking one of the buses. In case your flight is scheduled at some irregular hours, the safest option would be to take a taxi or a private transfer.

How big is Billund airport?

Billund Airport has two terminals. The new passenger terminal is 40,000 m2 and designed to handle 3.5 million passengers a year with the existing traffic pattern.

Is the Billund Airport open 24-hours?

Yes, the airport is open 24/7, however some of the amenities might be close after 9 or 10pm. Are there any hotels at or near the airport? Of course there are. You can stay at the Zleep Hotel Billund Airport, situated around 300 meters away. There are also few one in the proximity of 1 kilometer, e.g. LalandiaBillund or Hotel Propellen and Hotel Svanen.
